About Knots in the Sky Handmade

Founded in the NICU

Knots in the Sky was born from a unique intersection of clinical care and craftsmanship. Our founder, Sky, spent years serving as a NICU nurse, where she witnessed firsthand the importance of sensory comfort and uncompromising safety for the most delicate newborns. While she learned the art of crochet during the rigors of nursing school, it was her time at the bedside that inspired her to launch a studio dedicated to heirloom-quality soft goods.

Our Design Philosophy

We don’t believe in disposable trends. We believe in "slow-made" craftsmanship that stands the test of time. Every piece that leaves our Central Florida studio is guided by three core pillars:

Clinical-Grade Safety: Drawing from Sky’s healthcare background, we prioritize the use of Oeko-Tex certified yarns. Our materials are rigorously vetted to be free from harmful chemicals, ensuring they are safe for skin-to-skin contact and newborn environments.

Heirloom Construction: We specialize in high-tension amigurumi and reinforced stitching. Our products are designed to be "forever favorites"—built to endure the transitions from nursery decor to a child’s most trusted companion.

Sustainable Gifting: We believe the presentation should match the quality of the gift. Every order is presented in a reusable muslin bag, reflecting our commitment to intentional, low-waste gifting.

The Knots in the Sky Standard

We are a small-batch studio that prioritizes quality over mass production. When you choose a Highland Cow or one of our signature blankets, you are investing in a thoughtful standard of craftsmanship. Our process is informed by years of professional experience in high-stakes environments, ensuring that every detail—from fiber choice to finishing stitch—is handled with the utmost intentionality.
